Abstract

The authors of this article have tried to present some dates about the evolution of water polo in Oradea in the period 1945 – 1970 on the bases of some sport articles from the researched period. We have also used other sources such as some papers concerning the history of polo in Oradea, some pieces of information from people who knew the history of this sport in Oradea and some iconographic material about this theme. In our research we studied other researches about the Romanian polo, articles from the local and central newspapers, documents of the federation as well as the sport structures in Oradea which had polo sections. We also talked to players, coaches and other persons who knew or possessed materials concerning this subject.

            In the first part of this article we present the context and the motivation of its elaboration. Next we focused on aspects concerning the resumption of the activities of the polo teams in Oradea after the interruption caused by the years of war. Then we presented the steps taken by these teams in the consolidation of their activities, the efforts in the promotion of this sport discipline and in the improvement of its material bases. An important place is occupied by the results of the teams from Oradea in the national competitions. We also presented players and coaches who had a recognized contribution to the development of polo in Oradea.

            Due to its content and due to the dates provided to those who study it, this paper has a significant importance to those preoccupied by the history of this sport and especially by the evolution of polo in Oradea.

Rezumat

Autorii lucrării și-au propus ca pe baza consultării și valorificării a unor articole din presa sportivă din perioada cercetată, a unor date din lucrări privind istoria poloului orădean, a unor informații reieșite din discuțiile purtate cu persoane cunoscătoare a istoriei acestui sport, precum și a studierii unui material iconografic legat de această temă, să prezinte date despre evoluția în Oradea a jocului de polo în perioada 1945 – 1970. Ân cadrul demersului nostru am studiat  monografii ale poloului din România, articole din ziare locale și centrale, documente elaborate de forul de conducere al federației de specialitate, precum și de structurile sportive  orădene cu secții de polo. De asemenea, am apelat la consultarea unui bogat material iconografic, la discuții cu jucători, antrenori, conducatori sportivi și alte persoane care au cunoștințe sau posedă materiale documentare privind tema studiată.

            Lucrarea, în prima sa parte, prezintă contextul și motivația privind elaborarea ei. Ân continuare sunt abordate aspecte legate de reluarea activității echipelor de polo din Oradea după întreruperea cauzată de anii de război, sunt prezentate demersurile pentru consolidarea activității acestora, eforturile pentru promovarea acestei discipline sportive, pentru îmbunătățirea bazei materiale. Un loc important ocupă rezultatele obținute de echipele orădene în competițiile naținale.   De asemenea, sunt prezentați jucători, antrenori care au avut o contribuție recunoscută la dezvoltarea poloului orădean.

Prin conținutul său, prin datele puse la dispoziția celor care o studiază, lucrarea prezintă interes pentru cei preocupați de istoria sportului și în mod deosebit de evoluția jocului de polo în  Oradea.
